Degas Facts

-Edgar Degas was born on the 19th of July 1834 and died on the 27th of September in 1917.
-He is famous for his works in painting sculpting printmaking and drawing. 
-Over half of his work depict dancers.
-His family was fairly wealthy and he began to paint at an early age.
-His father had wanted him to study law, so he went to the university of pairs in November 1853.
-In April of 1853 he was admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-arts where he studied drawing.
-Degas preferred for artists to paint "Real Life" paintings instead of traditional paintings.
-Many people saw Degas as an impressionist but he very much disliked the style of many impressionists of his time.
