I'm Sorry Mrs.Hodge!

I'm sorry I'm such a horrible person! i haven't really been filling out the blog questions thus far, Ive just kinda been taking notes :( But i will complete blog #7! Right now!

Blog #7

The most challenging part of this project? was probably all the stuff with blogger. it made a lot of things inconvenient. It was also really difficult if your Internet has a temper. Some days i would have Internet, and then the next 2 i wouldn't. so it made it very difficult for me to finish all the things. I think it would have been easier if we had written in our notebooks and turned them in for you to look at.

What worked well?
Um... I'm not really sure. i thought the days we spent in the Media center taking notes from the books worked the best. It didn't involve so much Internet use.

What would have made this project better?
Well I'm not sure. I think I already said that, i think it would have been better if we just wrote in our notebooks instead of having blogs.

I totally think that this was a great project for ninth grade. I loved looking up all types of painting and photographs- but that might just be cause I like art :) Although i think that maybe putting some more guide lines on the project like "Choose a piece that makes you happy" or "Choose a peace that makes you sad." But other than that and my problems with the Internet, i loved it! :)

Observations #2

So I thought more about the idea of being lonely- and decided to speak about it more. The painting is so realistic that it almost feels like your in the room with the dancers and the elderly man. The Marble doorways kind of give you a cold feel. Like maybe its the fall, spring or winter. Cold is also a lonely feeling.

Sometimes its good but most of the time pensive. So it gives me the feeling of maybe before an important performance and after a difficult run through a few girls are being lectured. The girls in the background look bored or perhaps tired.

The girl with the brown curls and yellow bow looks tired. Maybe she's been lectured several times already and just wants to go home. I'll talk more later.... I'm really tired :)

Observations about my painting #1 :)

So! I decided to do some observations about my painting right now! Here we go! (Sorry if you think its boring- I don't!)

-First off the color is beautiful. Like when you wake up in the summer, and its fairly early. The really clear white light. Or like how it is on a really rainy cloudy day. I really don't know- but I feel like to the right of the scene, there might be some large beautiful windows. I really wish we could see more!
-Second I think these girls must have been here for quite a while- or perhaps they are just tired. In the background you can see some girls slouching and sighing.
-The two to three girls in front of the man with the cane seem to be getting a lecture or perhaps some extra help.
-There are about 20 dancers in the studio during this scene, and each of their expressions are different and priceless.
-The room is terribly large, and it seems to me that the man's voice would be echoing as he lectures these girls. which kind of gives the painting this lonely feeling. like, although there are about 20 people in this room, that it still feels empty.

Degas Facts

-Edgar Degas was born on the 19th of July 1834 and died on the 27th of September in 1917.
-He is famous for his works in painting sculpting printmaking and drawing.
-Over half of his work depict dancers.
-His family was fairly wealthy and he began to paint at an early age.
-His father had wanted him to study law, so he went to the university of pairs in November 1853.
-In April of 1853 he was admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-arts where he studied drawing.
-Degas preferred for artists to paint "Real Life" paintings instead of traditional paintings.
-Many people saw Degas as an impressionist but he very much disliked the style of many impressionists of his time.

So, last night i was unable to access the Internet according to my browser. So I'm gonna tell you about my new piece!

Its called The Dance Class or La Classee de Danse. It was painted by Edgar Degas who lived from 1834-19170. Its Oil on Canvas and is currently on display at the National Gallery of Australia. Until March 22. Very Interesting thinks I.
